A Novice Green Thumb

I have heard of people falling in love with plants and gardening but never understood how rewarding the endeavor could be. To plant a seed or a bulb and see the God's mysteries of the sun, rain and earth bring forth a living thing from something dormant in a quiet explosion of joy. In the warm earth of spring is a another world that offers to become so much. My head is full of ideas and plans and one of those is creating a proper entrance to our home. Today, I completed one little checkmark on my list- a trip to a local garden center and I brought home a new climbing rose for our front entrance. The rose was in once sense an impulse buy as the rose I was planning on buying for the arbor was going to be a white climber and the one for the back entrance would be a multicolored climbing variety like Joseph's coat or Jacob's robe. Colors speak emotions and can set a mood and I have spent a great deal of time being selective on the colors of plants that will be chosen to stay around year by year. And yellow is not one of my favorite colors to use in planting as a focal point but here she is... Garden Sun.
